By blending breath work, slow flow, deep stretch, and restorative yoga, this Warriors at Ease style yoga class allows participants to ground into the present moment through full body awareness and acceptance, and deep rest. This style of yoga has been proven to decrease chronic pain, stress, and anxiety while increasing physical and mental flexibility while regulating and calming the central nervous system. JESSE MILLER

Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class, Fleet Marine Force/Surface Warfare Leader, Warrior Surf Foundation

My healer route was a calling. I chose to join the navy as a hospital corpsman to serve as medical support for the marine corps. My journey took me all over the world during my active duty time, and I served both in combat and in clinical settings. Especially with my Marines, I was Doc, I was mom and dad, I was a psychologist, and I was a brother. While my job expectations were a little different than theirs, we were all on the line together. I like to carry that same mentality now working with my fellow veterans. Our struggles may be a little different now, but there is and always will be a need for men and women to lean on me, just as I have needed to lean on others

HAROLD VERONA

Retired USMC, Leader, Warrior Surf Foundation

Healing is important in my life because I have needed it as much as I have given it. My job in the military was one of the most eye opening, humbling, terrifying, and awesome experiences of my life. It was one of, if not the only job in my life that I would say I was the best of the best at. As the corpsman oath states “I hold the care of the sick and injured to be a privilege and sacred trust." Those words continue to echo in my brain, and ring true to this day.“

SARAH JONES

Certified Warriors at Ease Yoga Teacher, Warrior Surf Foundation

“My main focus, as a yoga teacher, is to be of service to the men and women who have served, or are actively serving our country. When someone joins the military, it is their duty to be selfless. A transformation occurs and life experiences, much different from everyone else, follows. The life-long practice of yoga and meditation is about creating space - space in our bodies, space in our minds, space between breaths... space for ourselves to regulate our central nervous system, cultivate awareness, breathe and rest. Magic happens in this space. And, when someone living with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and/or layers upon layers of trauma experiences that magic, the individual empowers themselves to heal themselves. Yoga is a vehicle on the journey to healing - I'm just the tour guide.“

"
I love this class because it provides the opportunity for me to shed some of the weight that holds me down from day to day. Once you arrive to class,  you can tell immediately that it is a safe and peaceful environment; largely due to Sarah and her efforts. I find that yoga, particularly this type of restorative practice, is key to helping me reset my body, mind, and spirit, while focusing on being present."
